1. PA Celebrates Abu Jihad's Terror - During the week of the anniversary of the death of Palestinian Liberation Organization arch-terrorist Abu Jihad, the Palestinian Authority [PA] held events and broadcast TV programs celebrating him and his terror attacks. One of the striking components of the Abu Jihad festivities was the presentation of the 125 Israeli civilians and soldiers killed in terror attacks he planned and directed, as a positive achievement. Six sporting events were also held in his honor. (Read More)

Case Closed: "IDF Did Not Commit War Crimes in Gaza" - Major Dorit Tuval, the deputy Military Advocate for Operational Matters, informed B'Tselem [The Israel Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories] on Tuesday [May 1] that the Military Police investigation into an incident in which 21 members of the al-Samouni family were killed during an Israel Defense Forces [IDF] strike on Gaza's Zeitoun neighborhood during Operation Cast Lead in 2009 has been closed. Iran Concerned; Israeli Official Believes Obama Is Serious about Tehran - Iranian officials have expressed concern about reports the United States is deploying advanced fighter jets in the region, although the Israelis hinted a different reaction. President Shimon Peres gave US President Barack Obama a boost of support on Tuesday [May 1] regarding the American leader's general approach to Iran. At the beginning of a meeting with US Sen. John Kerry, Peres said he trusts Obama's judgment and leadership. (Read More)
4. In Response to Gaza Rocket Fire, IAF Targets Terror Sites - In response to the rockets fired at Israel, Israeli Air Force [IAF] aircraft targeted a terror tunnel in the northern Gaza Strip. A direct hit was confirmed. Since the beginning of 2012 more than 265 rockets fired from the Gaza Strip hit Israel. (Read More)
5. Construction along Lebanon Border to Improve Security - The Israel Defense Forces began renovation of the barrier along the Israel-Lebanon border today, Monday (April 30). Located between the city of Metula and the Kila village in Lebanon, the barrier will reach up to seven meters [23 feet] in height in some areas. (Read More)

Israel Urges UN to Recognize Jewish Refugees from Arab Countries -Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Ron Prosor, has told the UN Security Council that the time had come "to sweep out the cobwebs of old illusions and plant the seeds for a truly open debate" on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including the issue of Jews exiled from Arab countries after 1948. Israeli Government Considering Early Elections - Israel added another twist to the political transition in the Middle East on Sunday as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has raised the prospect of moving elections forward. Ynet reported that national parliamentary elections, currently scheduled for 2013, could be moved as soon as August. (Read More)
8. PM's Father Benzion Netanyahu Dies - Benjamin Netanyahu's father, Benzion Netanyahu, died Monday [April 30]. He was 102 years old. The prime minister was able to visit his father in his Jerusalem home for the last time on Sunday.

9. Exciting First Temple Period Find - Continuing and extensive archaeological excavations in and around Jerusalem's Old City have revealed a seal with a Hebrew inscription "Matanyahu". The seal was discovered in a 2,000 year-old drainage channel that is currently being uncovered in Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) excavations in the vicinity of Robinson's Arch close to the Western Wall (Kotel) complex.
