What happen here in Israel against Messianic Jews is very bad. But also the Messianic Jews have to learn to do real Teshuvah. If the Messianic Jews really go back to live basic on Scripture than the recognition of Yeshuath YHWH (not an recognition of a other religion!) shall come to both Orthodox and Messianic...... . Ariel
What the enemy is doing against the believers in Israel is rarely surprising.
Israeli Messianic Jews face daily persecution from the ultra-Orthodox - persecution which at times escalates to violence and criminal activity against the believers (burning down buildings, beating and planting bombs... to name a few). This time Yad L'Achim organization, which took it upon itself to "protect the Jews from the Messianic believers who try to convert them to Christianity," took a full page ad in the Jerusalem Post, attacking the Messianic Jews.
Our Maoz blogger writes:
They shamelessly use the name of Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel (not even spelling his name correctly!), citing something he may or may not have said in 1995. Now, perhaps Mr. Wiesel does not like Messianic Judaism, I have no idea. But I would bet my life that this man who has devoted his life to education and seeking peace, would despise being associated with the group that took out this ad. This ad is also the first time this blogger has ever heard of 'material in the mail, concerts, and street performances' referred to as 'DESTRUCTIVE ACTIVITIES.'
We are humbly asking for your prayers for the Messianic Jews [and Christians] in Israel today and every day. We already know that there are some ultra-Orthodox who will not stop at anything to harm the believers, and we ask for protection, strength to endure, and for all persecuted to be a beacon of Messiah Yeshua's light in the midst of darkness. Please also pray for God to open the eyes of the persecutors. He's done it so many times, and He can and will do it again. May every Jew see their Messiah who loves them and gave His life for them!
Also, send a message to the Jerusalem Post on behalf of the Messianic Jewish believers and let them know how appalled you are by this hateful and misleading ad. Ask them if they would print the same ad with 'ultra-Orthodox' substituted every time 'Messianic' is used. But also remember to tell them that you are standing with Israel against her enemies because of your faith in Yeshua the Messiah! Please stand with Israeli believers at this hour of need!
Thank you!
Ari & Shira
