This week's Shop in Zion special Jerusalem Miniatures are copies of delicately hand painted pictures by immigrant artists who have come home to Israel, the land they were promised. Utilizing the gifts the Lord has given them, they were able to create these works of art representing the beauty of Zion. Click image to view in store |
One person, 30, was killed and five others were severely injured in a shooting attack in the West Bank on Sunday. The group of Breslev hassids was shot at in their car as they were entering the city of Nablus en route to Joseph's Tomb. The driver drove to the nearest army base where they were tended to. One passenger, who sustained wounds to his upper body, could not be revived and died Sunday morning. A 20-year-old and a 17-year-old were taken to Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson... [More] |
The Palestinian Authority has carried out Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's threat to "wipe Israel off the map" and literally has done so by displaying maps of "Palestine" covering all of Israel at the same time its leaders talk about "two states for two people." PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, head of the Fatah movement that controls the PA in Judea and Samaria, has in effect established a "one-state" solution in Fatah offices and in Palestinian Authority schools and offices... The Palestinian Authority and Hamas on Saturday separately rejected US President Barack Obama's reported plan for peace in the Middle East, because it calls on Palestinians to give up the right of return of refugees to their original homes in Israel. According to an article published in The New York Times last week, the US Administration has been working on a new peace initiative that revolves around a few key principles: A Palestinian state without the right of return, Jerusalem as the... Saboteurs on Wednesday blew up a pipeline running through Egypt's North Sinai near the town of El-Arish that supplies gas to Israel and Jordan, a security source told Reuters. "An unknown armed gang attacked the gas pipeline," the security source said, adding that the flow of gas to Israel and Jordan had been hit. "Authorities closed the main source of gas supplying the pipeline and are working to extinguish the fire,” the source said, adding there was a tower of flame at the scene... [More] |
WASHINGTON- Amid looming tensions between US President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel's Ambassador to Washington Michael Oren claims the United States needs the Jewish State now more than ever. In an article published by Foreign Affairs magazine, the ambassador lists the reasons behind the two states' strong alliance, saying that Israel "shares America's values, reflects its founding spirit, and resonates with its people's beliefs... Hamas is exploiting the relative calm in Gaza to prepare for the kidnapping of more Israelis, according to Hamas's official newspaper Alresalah, quoting sources labeled as "reliable." In an article published Sunday, Palestinian officials predicted that if Israel launches more attacks on Gaza, this may lead to the death of captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit, "and Hamas's bargaining chip will disappear." As such, the article says, Hamas does not want the issue of the... [More] |
Most Egyptians are in favor of annulling a peace treaty with Israel, according to a Pew Research Center poll released on Monday. The US-based think tank polled 1,000 adults throughout Egypt between March 24 and April 7, finding that only 36 percent would maintain peace. The percentage of Egyptians who support annulling the treaty (54%) does not vary amongst those who sympathize with Islamic fundamentalists and those who do not. However, those with lower incomes are less likely to...[More] |
A few days ago I met Minister Benny Begin and interviewed him for Giyus.org. In light of the swift turn of events in the Middle East, Minister Begin was able to crystallize the main issues with cutting clarity. From the history of Hamas' road to power in Gaza, through a thought provoking analysis on the connection between democracy and peace in the Middle East, Minister Begin offered factual observations. Our interview was held in English to avoid alterations during the translation. I'm sure... [More] |
BERLIN - Fiamma Nirenstein, vice president of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in Italy's Chamber of Deputies and chairwoman of the Committee for the Inquiry into Anti-Semitism, has deemed the slain Hamas-aligned activist Vittorio Arrigoni a "fan of political Islamism because he was an enemy of the Jews." Arrigoni was kidnapped by Salafist radicals in April, and murdered by them in the Gaza Strip earlier this month. Writing in the Milan-based Italian daily Il Giornale, she added... [More] |
If - as many expect - the United Nations General Assembly votes to recognize a Palestinian state in Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem at its meeting next September, the IDF and the government will have to take a more aggressive tack to defend Jews living in Judea and Samaria. A study undertaken by IDF Reserve Major Moshe Hisdai examined the defense, military, and legal implications of UN recognition of a PA state - and concluded that the army, government and residents have...
