Knesset speaker Reuven Rivlin told those attending the ceremony on Monday night that the opening of the center in Hebron is our Zionist answer and political answer.
"This event has a special significance in such a time when the Palestinians are desperately attempting to garner support of the international community in order to twist Israel's arm," he declared.
Israeli singer David D'or performed on stage at the opening ceremony. Commenting on the decision by some Israeli artists to boycott the event D'Or said he is against such acts and is happy to perform wherever he is invited.
Malachi Levinger head of the Kiryat Arba Hebron Council said the day will come when all boycotters will understand the significance of the place for the Jewish people.
