		July 30, 2011: Weekly 5 minute update (Audio Only) July 29, 2011 at 11:27 PM   You may view the 5 minute update this week via audio: 1) Listen to the audio In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on: 1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process Mahmood  Abbas is indicating that he wants to still submit a request for the UN to recognize a PLO state with East Jerusalem as its capital even if the PLO starts peace talks with Israel. The Arab League will meet on August 4 to lay out procedures for asking the UN Security Council to recognize a PLO state.  The UN Security Council had a preliminary meeting on July 26 to discuss the PLO request for recognition of a PLO state. The US reiterated that it will use its veto against recognition of a PLO state by the UN. Mahmood Abbas says that the PLO has 122 nations willing to recognize a PLO state. They need 128 nations to recognize a PLO state for such a request to be recognized by the UN General Assembly.  The PLO is stating that it will seek to unilaterally set borders in September through the UN.  In order to pressure Israel, the PLO wants demonstrations to support a PLO state at the UN like the Arab Spring uprisings. President Shimon Peres is conducting  secret talks with the Palestinians regarding borders for a future PLO state with the approval of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.  Finally, the French suggested that any solution to the Middle East conflict should recognize Israel as a Jewish state. An agreement to divide Jerusalem and establish a PLO state is a tribulation event. We will to be “watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem” and we will not rest until the God of Israel makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth (Isaiah 62).
