Elite French police are engaged in a gunfight at this moment with the suspected Toulouse murderer, who is of Algerian origin and is linked with Al Qaeda.
Three police have been wounded in the shoot-out, one of them seriously and two other lightly. The suspect is a 24-year-old Muslim who French officials said has travelled to Pakistan and Afghanistan. His mother was in the house but told police she was unable to convince her son to surrender.
The suspect is armed with a high-caliber rifle, and the suspect announced he would not surrender alive. Simultaneously, police searched for and arrested the brother of the suspect, who told authorities that they carried out the murders at the Toulouse day school in the name of “Palestinians.” He reportedly was in the house when the raid was underway. The French news channel BFM TV said the suspects were linked to an Islamist group that it identified as Forsane Alizza but it was not immediately possible to confirm this.
