Two men allegedly inspired by the Fort Hood attacks are now in police custody after authorities discovered their involvement in a Seattle terror plot.
Friday afternoon, Rep. Peter King (R-NY), the House Homeland Security Committee Chairman, shared his feelings about the arrest with Shannon Bream, saying he was very concerned after learning of the plot earlier this week.
"It was very deadly, it would have caused a large number of casualties ... and it targets the military. And this is becoming a pattern," King said.
According to some accounts, the men charged in the plot felt they were justified in their planned military attack due to disagreements with the U.S.'s involvement in operations throughout the Mideast.
"First of all, we have to accept certain realities here," King said when asked how to combat such thinking. One of the men, both ex-convicts, was allegedly converted to Islam while in prison. King says that while many Democrats attacked his assertion that such conversions could be cause for concern, this latest plot proves his point.
"He was radicalized in prison, and this is a common denominator in a number of these threats and plots."
Video has also been released of the wife of one of the arrested terrorists, showing her shock in being told of her husband's charges. At one point, a reporter informed her that her husband may spend life in prison. After hearing this, she collapsed on the floor in tears.
