History did not quite work out in the Arabs’s favor and as a result caused a humiliating defeat for them with about 350,000 Arabs evacuated Israel and not till after the Yom Kippur War 25 years later did they rename themselves “Palestinians.” Most of the Arab refugees fled at the behest of their leaders stating "after we wipe the Jews out in 15 days that they could return to their homes."
