Greetings my brethren! We have concluded our teaching series on "The Sabbath". Please take a few minutes to enjoy the song below, "We Delight in your Shabbat" by Barry and Batya Segal. HafTorah portion: Ezekiel 37: 1-14 Vision of Valley of Dry Bones.
This week the HaTorah portion is from Ezekiel 37: 1-14, where Ezekiel has the vision of the valley of dry bones. What an exciting and living word for today! The northern kingdom of the house of Israel (aka house of Joseph) comprised of the ten tribes of the north were taken captive to Assryria and from there they were scattered to the four corners of the earth. They NEVER returned to Israel. They became assimilated and FORGOT who they were. The scriptures interpret for us WHO these bones are: "And He said to me, "Son of man, these bones are all the house of Israel. See, they say, "Our bones are dry, our expectancy has perished, and we ourselves have been cut off!" Ezekiel 37:11
Yet, as Ezekiel speaks the word of Yahweh over these bones , he says "See, I am bringing into you a spirit and you shall live," and the bones COME TOGETHER, sinew and flesh comes upon them, then skin covers them, and finally the Ruach HaKodesh
(Holy Spirit) breathes the breath of life into them.
We, the scattered ones who are currently in exile, WE are those bones! Yahweh is doing His work upon the earth NOW to cause this scripture passage to be FULFILLED! We are in the process of seeing this very thing HAPPEN before our very eyes! I will close with this rich promise and gem of scripture:
"Therefore prophesy, and you shall say to them,"Thus said the Master Yahweh,
"See O My People, I am opening your burial-sites and shall bring you up from your burial-sites and shall bring you into the land of Israel. And you shall know that I am Yahweh when I open your burial-sites, My people, and bring you up from your burial-sites. And I shall put My Spirit in you, and YOU SHALL LIVE, and I shall settle you IN YOUR OWN LAND. And you shall know that I Yahweh have spoken, and I HAVE DONE IT," declares Yahweh." Ezekiel 37: 12-14
