| Iran Sees Biggest Protests in Years |
Thousands Flock to Streets Chanting "Death to the Dictator"

(Debkafile Feb. 14) Iranian Basij heavies were still beating up thousands of anti-regime protesters who turned out in the streets of 30 cities during the day. In Tehran, one demonstrator was shot dead and two injured.It was the first substantial demonstration the opposition had managed to stage since their big rallies against the rigged presidential election of 2009. They did not make a stand in one place but scattered across several city squares and outside the universities. The organizers who used Facebook and Twitter to mobilize them adopted this tactic to make it harder to disperse them.Smaller rallies, which also drew thousands, were staged in the big towns outside Tehran including Tabriz, Tazd, Ahwaz, Mashad, Shiraz and Isfahan.

A fresh surge of popular anti-Mubarak protest ripping through Egypt Tuesday, Feb. 8 has brought the country closer to a military coup to stem the anarchy than at any time since the street caught fire on Jan. 25. The arrival of US naval, marine and air forces in the Suez Canal's Greater Bitter Lake indicated that the crisis was quickly swerving out of control.
Vice President Omar Suleiman warned a group of Egyptian news editors that the only choice is between a descent into further lawlessness and a military takeover in Cairo. The distinguished political pundit of the 1960s and 1970s Hasnin Heikal saw no other way out of the crisis but a government ruling by the army's bayonets.

TEHRAN: President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said last Friday that a new Middle East is being created, that would be free of the United States and the occupying regime of Israel. He backed the Arab uprisings, but also warned Egyptians to be wary of America's "friendly face." Massive crowds of Iranians, waving flags and chanting "Death to Mubarak" and "Death to America," descended on Tehran's Azadi (Freedom) Square. There, the president lashed out at the West and the Zionist regime in a speech marking the 32nd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution. "We will soon see a new Middle East materialize - one without America and the Zionist regime, and there will be no room in it for the World Arrogance," Ahmadinejad told the cheering crowds, who gathered despite cold and cloudy weather." (Investors.com, Feb 15th) Deutsche Boerse sought to portray its takeover of NYSE Euronext as a merger of equals to ease U.S. concerns. Deutsche Boerse investors would own 60% and control 10 of 17 board seats, but the merged firm would be headquartered in NYC and Frankfurt and have an NYSE CEO. Wary of alienating U.S. officials, it avoided renaming the new company. Read more
What does it mean? This is another sign of the Wall Street's fading dominance in financial exchanges. It is also a sign of the weakening of the US dollar on the international market. The movement towards a merging one world global economy and global currency is a significant tribulation event.

Barack Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper quietly have taken a major step toward erasing the border between the two nations with a new "Beyond the Border" bilateral declaration. In a ceremony designed to remain below the radar of national public opinion, Obama and Harper bypassed Congress to sign on the basis of their executive authority a declaration that put in place a new national security vision defined not by U.S. national borders, but by a continental view of a "North American perimeter."

Below the radar of public opinion, Mexico has started to assemble the type of biometric national identity database that could be used to document names for a North American Trusted Traveler border pass card, a plan already being developed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for Mexican citizens. On Jan. 19, 2011, Mexico's President Felipe Calderon signed an executive order requiring within the next five years all Mexicans 17 years old and younger have a biometric national identity card that would include a facial photograph, all 10 fingerprints, and an iris scan. What does it mean? On borders to the north we have the new trade agreements between the US and Canada. On borders to the south, we have the new biometric border pass cards that will be issued to all Mexican children 17yr of age and under. In essence, these two actions result in the "blending and blurring of borders between the US and her neighbors to the north and the south. Both of these actions move us closer towards a North American Union, with a gradual erosion of national sovereignty. The move toward a North American Union as a "region" within a global government and economy is a significant tribulation event. |
| IMF Calls for Dollar Alternative |
| IMF Director Says Global Currency Would Help Shore Up Financial System |
The International Monetary Fund issued a report on Feb.10 about a possible replacement for the dollar as the world's reserve currency.The IMF said Special Drawing Rights, or SDRs, could help stabilize the global financial system. SDRS represent potential claims on the currencies of IMF members. They were created by the IMF in 1969 and can be converted into whatever currency a borrower requires at exchange rates based on a weighted basket of international currencies. The IMF typically lends countries funds denominated in SDRs. Dominique Strauss-Kahn, managing director of the IMF, acknowledged there are some "technical hurdles" involved with SDRs, but he believes they could help correct global imbalances and shore up the global financial system. | Price of Fresh Produce Skyrocketing Due to Freeze in SW and Mexico |
Warnings of higher food prices headed for American supermarkets and restaurants were swallowed easily across much of farm country Wednesday. The big gulp came when the U.S. Department of Agriculture reported that global demand had pushed U.S. corn supplies to their lowest point in 15 years. The price of corn, which has doubled over the past six months, affects most food products in supermarkets. It's used to feed the cattle, hogs and chickens that fill the meat aisles. Shoppers could see higher grocery bills as early as three months from now. Read more
 In another story, produce prices are skyrocketing due to the freeze in Mexico and the Southwest. Get ready to pay double or even triple the price for fresh produce in the coming weeks after the worst freeze in 60 years damaged and wiped out entire crops in northern Mexico and the southwestern U.S. Farmers throughout northern Mexico and the Southwest experienced unprecedented crop losses. Now devastation that seemed so far away, is hitting us in the pocketbooks. Read more

What does it mean? Remember, the riots in Tunisia, which sparked the volcano of riots and protests in Egypt, Lebanon, Yemen and Iran, started as a FOOD RIOT due to HIGH PRICES of FOOD. Take a good look in the mirror at what is now happening in the Middle East region. This could well be a reflection of what may be coming to Europe and North America. If food hyperinflation occurs, as these stories are indicating, it is quite possible the west will see similar kinds of social unrest and protest as what is now happening in the Middle East. Oil and food hyperinflation could contribute to the collapse of the US dollar, leading to the establishment of a global government and currency. This would be a significant marker event on the 7 year tribulation timeline. |
