IDF commanders were given the green light by officials in Jerusalem to take all necessary steps to stop rocket fire from Gaza on Tuesday, including undertaking ground operations as need be. But military officials told the Associated Press, while the decision allowed the IDF to act in accordance with the severity of terror attacks from Gaza, it was unlikely a ground offensive would be ordered without massive rocket fire. The sudden spike in rocket and mortar attacks on Israel's southern... [More] |
A man in his 50s was killed Saturday night as more rockets fell in southern Israel, with missiles hitting Ashkelon. Two people were injured in Ashkelon, as Grad rockets struck several parts of the city. One of the rockets hit in or near a house, and a very loud explosion was heard - indicating the possibility, a Magen David Adom spokesperson said, that a gas canister had been hit. One person was taken to Barzilai Hospital in the city in serious condition, where he later died of his wounds. A second... [More] |
The Palestinians, in another ploy to unilaterally gain statehood without negotiations, successfully lobbied for membership to the United Nation's cultural and scientific body during a meeting in Paris today. UNESCO - the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization - voted 107-14, with 52 countries abstaining, to admit the Palestinians. The membership provides the Palestinians an avenue to interfere with cultural and archeological activities and religious sites in |
Hamas and allied terrorists attacked southern Israel with rockets and mortar shells at the rate of one every six minutes at dawn Sunday. Islamic Jihad appeared to be behind most of the attacks the past 48 hours, but Hamas has done nothing to stop the sudden offensive, one week after kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit was freed in exchange for 477 terrorists and security prisoners. An additional550 are to be released in less than two months, and several political leaders also are demanding |
Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas went on record in Arabic saying he will never recognize a "Jewish state." He also said the kidnapping and five year ordeal of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit was "a good thing." The report came from Middle East Media Research Institute, who translated and posted an interviewAbbas gave on Egyptian state TV last month. "First of all, let me make something clear about the story of the Jewish state," Abbas told Dream2TV on Oct. 23. "They started talking to |
As the world is playing catch with the events in Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Syria and other Arab Spring focal points, Iran is very busy. Trying to keep people oppressed in light of Arab Spring revolutions surely keeps the regime in Iran occupied. But more than that, viewing once strongman like Mubarak and Gadaffi defeated, jailed humiliated and assassinated is probably the strongest driver to Iran's nuclear weapons ambitions. It's safe to assume that if Gadaffi possessed nuclear weapons, NATO would... [More] |
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Wednesday said the Jewish people have "a right to build in our eternal capital." Speaking in the Knesset's plenum at a memorial for assassinated Israeli lawmaker Rehavam Ze'evi, Netanyahu explained that Ze'evi's "life began in Jerusalem and ended in Jerusalem. That was Gandhi - a man of Jerusalem." "All who love Jerusalem should learn from Gandhi," Netanyahu said. "We must protect its unity, stop those who try to rewrite its history, and |
None other than retired South African Judge Richard Goldstone, author of the UN report damning Israel for alleged war crimes, condemns "apartheid" charges against the Jewish state. "The apartheid charges are "an unfair and inaccurate slander against Israel, calculated to retard rather than advance peace negotiations," Goldstone wrote in an opinion article in The New York Times Monday morning. Concerning the term "apartheid wall," referring to the security barrier that straddles Judea and Samaria... [More] |
