The Indonesian government wants to tear down the GKI Yasmin Church and use the land to erect a park. Since April of 2010, members of the church have been praying on the sidewalk in front of their church--praying that their house of worship will not be demolished. Unfortunately, the Indonesian government has decided that it will no longer tolerate the sidewalk prayers. Yet members of GKI refuse to stop praying for the church they love. “We will come there to pray. Be it only for five minutes, we will come every week,” said one member of GKI’s congregation. 10/10/11 Afghanistan (CNSNews) Not a Single Christian Church Left in Afghanistan - In March 2010, the last public Christian church in Afghanistan was torn down. Religious freedom has been rapidly declining in Afghanistan for the past ten years. Needless to say, there are no longer any public Christian schools in Afghanistan either. “There is no longer a public Christian church; the courts have not upheld the church’s claim to its 99-year lease, and the landowner destroyed the building in March of 2010. On August 21, 2011, South Korean pastor Patrick Kim collapsed suddenly near a taxi stand in the Chinese city of Dandong. Although paramedics tried to resuscitate the pastor, Kim died before he reached the hospital. According to sources, Pastor Kim didn’t die of natural causes. In fact, some believe that Pastor Kim was murdered by a North Korean agent--murdered for his work of helping North Koreans defect into China. More than likely, the weapon of choice was a poisoned needle--a weapon that has been in use by North Korean special operations for a long time. Full Story
10/8/11 North Korea (ANS) South Korean Pastors Ready to Sacrifice Their Lives in North Korea - North Korea’s self-imposed isolation policy makes it almost impossible for Christian missionaries to enter this spiritually deprived country - a country where all praise and worship is reserved for the “Great Leader,” Kim-Jong-il. Despite the fact that any Christian missionary who is able to cross into North Korea is under immediate threat of imprisonment, torture, or death, many South Korean believers are taking the risk. Dr. Jaerock Lee, senior pastor of one of the largest churches in South Korea, says that there are Christians in his Seoul church who are ready to go into North Korea when it opens up and are “ready to be martyred for the sake of Christ.” North Korea’s current economic crisis, lack of food, and rising poverty is creating a dire situation for North Korean citizens--a situation that may force the “Great Leader” to open his country’s doors to the outside world and accept international aide. If or when this happens, South Korean missionaries plan to cross the Korean border, hand out Bibles, and spread the Gospel. Full Story |
