+++PLEASE NOTE: THIS EDIT CONTAINS CONVERTED 4:3 MATERIAL+++ (ROUGH CUT) A nuclear plant in the midwestern U.S.state of Nebraska remains closed as flood waters inundate the area around the plant. The Fort Chalhoun Nuclear Station was shut down after rising water from the Missouri River threatened the reactor. Officials say that while the area around the plant has been affected, the reactor itself is still dry. The Missouri River, swollen by heavy rains and melting snow, has been flooding areas from Montana through Missouri. The Fort Calhoun station is owned and operated by the Omaha Public Power District and usually supplies power to Nebraska's largest city Omaha. Officials say the Cooper Nuclear Station, about 60 miles south of Omaha, is still working and providing power to all of Nebraska while the Fort Calhoun plant is down.
