Throughout March... CFOIC is taking a look at Gush Katif |
The heartbreaking story of Gush Katif is not over. Thankfully, much progress has been made and finally, after more than 5 years, we are beginning to see them settle into homes and communities and once again become successful, contributing members of society.
However, there are still those who need our help. We have an opportunity to enable those people from Gush Katif who are still unemployed or underemployed, to find a job or open a new business. This program provides job training so that they can support their families with dignity.
Your gift this month to help the Gush Katif Employment Project, will be matched, dollar for dollar, by the Israeli government, so in essence your donation is doubled! Please join me in blessing the people of Gush Katif with hope for their future.
Shalom, Kimberly Troup Director, North American Headquarters CFOIC Heartland
The Gush Katif Employment Project takes these refugees in hand, with love and sensitivity, and offers vocational retraining, capital for fledgling businesses and workshops to make them more marketable.
This project can get them out of this humiliating cycle of need. We must not remain indifferent to the plight of these families. Unemployment turns people who were self-sufficient into needy welfare cases. A job will give them a livelihood they desperately need!

What Do the Gush Katif Refugees Need? |
|
|
In the summer of 2005 the Gush Katif refugee families lost everything. Forcefully expelling people from their homes is a complex scenario that comes with unique social, emotional and psychological problems that require attention.
Thousands of families lost their primary means of support, when their jobs or businesses were destroyed in Gush Katif, along with their homes. Municipal workers, farmers and those who owned their own businesses were left with nothing. Most of those affected are over 50, a terrible time in life to have to start over.
