15,000 Run Jerusalem Marathon

The Jerusalem marathon kicks off with 15,000 runners from 50 countries participating.

The Jerusalem marathon began Friday morning. More than 15,000 runners from 50 countries took part in the race.
The first runners have already finished. David Toniok of Kenya completed the race in two hours, 19 minutes and 52 seconds, winning first place and setting a new Jerusalem Marathon record for fastest time.
In second place was Gudeta Biratu of Ethiopia, with a time of 2:22:42, followed by John Mutai of Kenya with a time of 2:23:31.
Mihiret Antonios of Ethiopia was the first woman to cross the finish line, clocking 2:48:38.
The half (21 km) marathon was won by Onesmus Serem in a time of 1:05:55, eight seconds ahead of Feyisa Lerna. Alex Chepkwik Saekwo came in third with a time of 1:06:41.
