Security forces demolished the Harchivi outpost in the Jewish town of Elon Moreh in Samaria (Shomron) early on Thursday morning. Those who destroyed the outpost did not spare a memorial to an IDF soldier who fell in battle in Lebanon in 1997.
The local residents' council termed the demolition “despicable” and accused Defense Minister Ehud Barak of using his position to abuse Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria. “The destruction of the memorial is an act of hatred and an attempt by Barak to provoke residents, and shows heartlessness toward a bereaved family,” the council said.
“It is a shame that the Likud government does not expel the provocateur from its midst,” they said of Barak
