Hezbollah Terror Group Takes Control of Lebanese Government

  • Iran, Syria now have firm grip on power in Beirut
  • U.S. delivered a major setback in Lebanon
  • Fears of sectarian violence, political tensions

Jerusalem, June 14 - Hezbollah, with 40,000 rockets directed at Israel, and its allies have taken control of a sweeping majority of seats in Lebanon’s government.
The composition of the new government was announced on Monday after months of stalemate between the Hezbollah-led bloc and its rival, the Western-backed March 14 grouping.
This victory means a heavy shift towards Iran and Syria and a major blow to the United States. Tehran and Damascus are Hezbollah’s main sponsors. The make-up of the new government is almost “entirely pro-Syrian,” reported Lebanon’s Daily Star.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who is facing mounting domestic opposition and is brutally massacring his own people, called twice “to congratulate” the Lebanese leaders.
Iran also congratulated Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on the new Hezbollah-dominated government, encouraging bilateral ties between the two countries.
Hezbollah is a Shi’ite terrorist group committed to violence and Israel’s destruction.
