Gaza rocket launch
TEL AVIV – In what would be a major escalation if proven true, the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip told WND today they fired a rocket that landed just 10 miles south of Tel Aviv.

Abu Mosab, spokesman for Islamic Jihad in Gaza, said his group fired a Grad-style long range rocket at the Israeli city of Palmachim, which neighbors Rishon Litzion, about 10 miles from Tel Aviv.
This would mark the furthest a rocket ever traveled from Gaza into Israel. Tel Aviv is the economic hub of Israel.
The Israel Defense Forces refused to confirm or deny the report, instead referring a WND request for information to the Israel National Police.
Israeli police spokesman Miki Rosenfeld told WND he could not confirm that a rocket landed near Tel Aviv.
